Description

The Echo RO is a tankless reverse osmosis system for under your sink, with four filter stages, in a frame only 4.25 inches deep. It purifies water at the moment you pour, reducing up to 99% of contaminants, and sends it to a separate tap at your sink. There is no tank or pressure bladder taking up the cabinet.

Reverse osmosis without a storage tank

A traditional RO system holds purified water under pressure in a tank, which claims a large part of the cabinet and can leave water standing for days. This one skips that entirely, so your under-sink space stays available and each glass is freshly made.

  • No stored water: nothing stands in a tank between uses, and there is no bladder to replace.
  • Four stages: sediment filter, carbon block, RO membrane and a final carbon polish.
  • 1:1 ratio: one gallon of reject water for each gallon you drink, where older systems often use 3:1 or 4:1.
  • Tool-free cartridges: a quarter turn releases each bayonet cartridge, without a wrench or shutting off the water.

The four filter stages

Stage What it does Replace
1. Sediment Stops rust, silt and other particles, protecting the finer stages after it 6–12 months
2. Carbon block Reduces chlorine and chloramine, along with the tastes and odors from municipal treatment 6–12 months
3. RO membrane Rated at 0.0001 micron; rejects dissolved fluoride, lead, arsenic, nitrates and further heavy metals 2–3 years
4. Post carbon Polishes the water on its way to the faucet for a clean, neutral taste 12 months

What the system reduces

Echo lists chlorine and chloramine, lead, fluoride, heavy metals, nitrates and sulfates, total dissolved solids, microorganisms, and taste and odor. Keep in mind that RO takes out dissolved solids without distinction, so beneficial minerals go as well.

A slim unit for your sink cabinet

At 17.75 inches wide, 16 tall and 4.25 deep, it sits at the rear wall and leaves the shelf free for other things.

  • 1.2 L/min flow: a bottle or pot fills without a long wait.
  • Digital display: shows the status and remaining life of each cartridge.
  • Front access: all four cartridges can be reached from the front.

Common questions

What is the benefit of going tankless?

You have no tank to clean, house or swap out, usually a 3-gallon sphere on a traditional system, and the whole unit is just 4.25 inches deep.

Is a separate faucet needed?

Yes. Purified water runs to its own tap in a free opening on the sink deck or counter, next to your main faucet. Pick a finish, or No Faucet if you have a fitting tap.

How much water goes down the drain?

Roughly a gallon for each gallon of drinking water.

When do the cartridges need replacing?

Plan on 6 to 12 months for the sediment and carbon prefilters and 2 to 3 years for the membrane; your water decides where in that range you land.

Can I combine it with an Echo hydrogen machine?

Yes, with the Flow or H2. Put the RO upstream so that purified water reaches the hydrogen cell.
