Description

The Crystal Quest® Fluoride Removal Water Filtration System lowers fluoride in water for commercial buildings, schools, food production and other high-demand sites. It comes in nine flow sizes from 15 to 390 GPM, with three media choices and automatic or manual control.

About fluoride

Fluoride occurs naturally in many minerals and is often added by municipal treatment plants, typically at 1.5 - 2.5 mg/l. It is also found in wastewater from glass and steel production and from foundries. The U.S. EPA sets the maximum contaminant level (MCL) for drinking water at 4 mg/l. According to Crystal Quest, levels above 5 mg/l can harm tooth structure.

Pick your media

Aluminum Oxide: Eagle Fluoride Resin, a synthetic aluminum oxide adsorbent that binds fluoride strongly, as well as lead and arsenic. Removal relies on adsorption plus a reaction between the contaminant and the media, not on ion exchange. Grains are uniform in size, and the media copes with a broad pH range.
Calcium GAC: Eagle Activated Charcoal made from carbonized animal bone (bone char). Besides carbon surface area it has a hydroxyapatite lattice, which adsorbs heavy metals and helps keep alkalinity in the water.
Mixed: a blend of both media.

Bone char is meant for municipal water with inorganic fluoride. If your fluoride comes from a well or another natural source, or is organic, contact us first: blending two media may work better.

Control and options

Automatic versions run on a brass timer valve whose backwash controller adjusts itself; manual upflow and manual downflow valves are available up to 75 GPM. Available add-ons: metered valve, bypass for the backwash, 3200NT controller, NXT upgrade, duplex, twin or triplex setups, and skid mounting.

Valve upgrades: the 2510 and 3900 accept an NXT display controller and meter valve; the 2850 and 2900 also accept an XT display controller.

Manual valves (15-75 GPM)

Manual downflow with backwash: top-mount manual filter valve. 1" in/out, 1" female drain, 1.05" OD riser, 2.5" 8-NPSM connection; or 2" in/out, 1.5" female drain, 1.5" OD riser, 4" 8-UN connection.
Manual upflow head: works without electricity and without backwash, and runs upflow or downflow depending on how it is plumbed. UPVC tank head with 2.5"-8NPSM opening (1" NPT in/out, 1" NPT center riser) or 4"-8UN opening (2" NPT in/out, 1.5" NPT center riser).
